What should I expect from my appointment?

What happens at my initial appointment?
  • We will first take a detailed medical history about you, your problem, your past medical history and any medications that you might be taking.
  • A comprehensive physical examination will be performed, to establish what is wrong.
  • Depending on the physical examination findings, we will then devise a treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.
  • A comprehensive exercise program will be sent to you via e-mail after your appointment finishes, so that you can continue to practice in your own time.
How long is my initial appointment?
  • Your initial appointment lasts for approximately 60 minutes, which includes assessment and treatment.
  • A comprehensive exercise program will be sent to you via e-mail after your appointment finishes, which is included in the cost of the initial appointment.
What information do I need to supply for my initial appointment?
  • Any relevant information about your condition will help your physiotherapist understand your medical condition better.
  • If you have any copies of any x-rays, MRI’s, CT scans, Ultrasound reports, letters from consultants, hospital discharge reports, etc, then please have them available at the time of your initial appointment.
What clothes should I wear?
  • Please wear loose fitting clothing, that allows us to examine the affected body part.
  • For example, shorts would be ideal to assess a leg injury, whilst a sleeveless t-shirt would be useful when assessing a shoulder issue.
  • We will ensure that we always protect your modesty.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
  • This question will be different for everyone, depending on your condition.
  • The number and frequency of appointments will depend on your injury, your medical history, your diagnosis, and what goals you would like to achieve.
  • For example, a simple ports injury might only require a one-off appointment. However, for patients who have recently had surgery, or patients who have been in hospital and lost a lot of muscle strength might require additional sessions.
  • You can feel confident that you will never experience any ‘hard sell’ tactics, nor any pressure to book additional sessions.
  • We are only interested in helping you to achieve your goals.
What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?
  • If you need to cancel, then please inform us as soon as possible, so we can offer that appointment to another patient.
  • We reserve the right to charge for a cancellation less than 24 hours in advance.
  • Please call us on 07960 832171
